Penumbra is an independent alternative/psych rock band formed in Mandan, North Dakota in 2023. The band — Nicole Morton (vocals, guitar, keys), Matt Foster (lead guitar), Dustin Geiger (bass), and Nick Just (drums) — writes original material and re-imagines cover songs from artists they admire. Their live show leans into candlelit atmosphere and melodic weight, building a darkly luminous sound that has carried them across festivals and venues throughout the Bismarck-Mandan region. With released singles Calendula and Pocket and a debut EP arriving June 5, 2026, Penumbra continues to grow its footprint in North Dakota's independent rock scene.
